Book Description
No one goes through life without struggling with pain or sickness at some point. This book addresses the causes of illness and healing from a biblical perspective. Its purpose is to help the reader understand God's will and His promises regarding healing for all who believe the Bible’s truth so that they can strengthen their faith to enter into the possession of their healing. If we know the authority we have in the Name of Jesus, and exercise it, we can be healthy believers fighting sickness, instead of being sick people fighting to be healed. In this book you can find out what the Bible says about all that involves healing and how to pray to get well again, or to keep your health.

The promises of the Bible are valid for all who have received Jesus Christ as Lord in their lives and are born-again. If you still haven't turned to God, and you want to, but you don't know how to pray, you can find a prayer model below with which you can surrender your life to the Lord. Sincere prayer will lead to a change of heart, and you will become part of God's family. The Bible teaches us how to pray for salvation through the following verses:
- Romans 10:9-10,17 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your hearts that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [...] So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Dear God, thank You for giving Your Son to die for my salvation. I admit that I have sinned, and I sincerely ask You to forgive me. Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, You died for my sins and God raised You from the dead. Please come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. Father God, I surrender myself fully to You and please help me live for You through the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for all You have done for me, in the Name of Jesus I pray, amen.
Even if at the moment it doesn't seem like anything has changed in your heart, if you prayed sincerely, the change has begun. We know we are born-again when we desire to do what pleases God and become who He created us to be. Through the rebirth of our spirit, we are the children of God, we have authority in the Name of Jesus our Lord, and we can ask our heavenly Father to give us what He has promised in His Word.
Why should we know what the Bible says about healing? If we want to benefit from all that God has for us, we must know what the Bible says pertaining to it. And the truth is that God wants us healthy! The Lord did not reject any of the sick who came to Him. Jesus never told anyone that they must suffer a little longer in order to learn something from their illness, or that it was not the will of Father God to heal them. Even though not all sickness is caused by sin, and not every sin will make the person who committed it sick, sin has its consequences. When one lives in sin, they give the devil the right to hurt them. We cannot sincerely love God and love sin at the same time. Let's be quick to ask for forgiveness when we sin and ask the Lord to help us renounce that sin.
If until now you have believed that God can heal but only if it is His will and that we must be holy to merit healing, I pray that in reading this book, which is based upon God’s Word, that it will help you see the truth about the will of God and receive healing as often as you pray. We cannot know all the reasons why we do not receive healing every time we pray, but we can be sure that God loves us to the fullest, wants our good more than we want it for ourselves, and because Jesus is our Lord, when we truly believe, we can receive healing over every sickness and disease.
In John 14:12, Jesus said that by faith in Him we would do the works that He did, and even greater works, because He went to the Father. Jesus healed all the sick who came to Him, regardless of their condition. He restored sight to the blind, speech to the dumb, hearing to the deaf, raised the dead, freed the demon-possessed, and all left healthy after He ministered to them. In the Name of Jesus, we can pray to the Father and do the works just as Jesus did. Unfortunately, it seems too much for many Christians to believe that they can receive healing through prayer, raise the dead and do more than Jesus did.
Only when we renew our minds through God's Word can we believe the truth to grow in faith and receive answers to prayers. We cannot have faith in something that we do not know is God's will for us. The apostle Peter said in the verses below that in the Bible we have everything we need to know God and how to live victoriously, so that the nature of God becomes part of us, replacing the sinful nature.
- 2 Peter 1:3-4 As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
God's Word teaches us that we have authority in the spiritual world, if Jesus is the Lord of our lives, and that through the Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts, we have within us the power that heals. Jesus was, is, and will always be God, but when He chose to be incarnated through the virgin Mary, to be the sinless man who would pay for all the sins of mankind, He renounced His power as God while He lived on earth, and performed miracles and healed the sick by the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38). So, God through the Holy Spirit, has given us the power for healing and it is up to us to use it. Jesus said of Himself:
- John 6:38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.”
Jesus healed all who came to Him and because He fulfilled the will of His heavenly Father perfectly, we can know and rest assured, that it is God’s will for us to be healed. Many Christians believe that God gives us sickness to punish us, teach us something, or to be glorified through our suffering. Even though in the Old Testament we see such examples, let us remember that we are under a New Covenant in Jesus and by His sacrifice we are not only freed from the curse of sin, but also sickness and disease. Acts 10:38 shows that Jesus “healed all who were oppressed by the devil,” confirming that Satan is the author of sickness, and not God, as we also read in the Gospels. If God were the source of sickness, it would mean that Jesus was working against the will of Father God whenever He healed the sick, which we all know is not true.
Sometimes the cause of sickness and suffering are our unconfessed sins or thoughtless actions that have given the devil the right to hurt us. But if we submit to God, we can resist the devil and be delivered, as the following verses teach us:
- 1 Peter 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
- James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
God is sovereign and Almighty, but because He has given us the right to choose, it is up to us to fight against the sicknesses and attacks of the evil one, and the Lord strengthens us to be able to do it.
- Ephesians 6:11-13 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
When we keep our hearts clean, are spiritually awake, and equipped with the armor of God, we can recognize the attacks of the enemy, and when we resist him in faith, he must go.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
This verse does not say that the devil never attacks us. The message is that God strengthens us as much as we need to withstand attacks, and does not allow the devil to attack us beyond our strength to defend ourselves. This truth is also confirmed by the next verse.
- 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Since we have turned to God, the devil no longer has power over us, unless we give it to him by believing his lies and accepting his attacks as from God. The Bible teaches us to fight against attacks, no matter what kind they are, whether they are temptations that can lead us to sin, sicknesses, or other afflictions. When we believe the truth and act upon it in the Name of Jesus, the devil must go.
If we believe that it is God's will for us to be sick in order to teach us something, then we won’t resist the devil in order to be healed. But in this case, in order not to be out of God's will, we should suffer without going to the doctor or taking pills. Which is absurd isn't it? The Bible does not say that God is the source of sickness, or that He wants us to be sick after we become His children. A loving parent will do anything to see their child healthy and such is the case of God who is the most perfect and loving Father.
In Isaiah 53:4-5 and 1 Peter 2:24, we clearly see that healing is part of what Jesus achieved for us by His sacrifice. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and bore our sicknesses in our place so that we could be free from both. Also, by the wounds in His body, Jesus took upon Himself the punishment so that we can have peace, which means that through Him we have complete reconciliation with God. It is peace between us and the Lord, because His anger against our sins was resolved by the sacrifice of His Son. The Hebrew word translated “peace” is “shalom” and means “complete reunification, health, well-being, peace.” So we can have total peace and confidence, that Jesus’ sacrifice canceled the consequences of our sins before God and completely restored the health of our bodies, souls, and spirits. Just as we believe that through the sacrifice of Jesus we have been saved, we can believe that we have also been healed. If one thinks that Isaiah 53:4-5 refers only to emotional suffering, one can see that it is not so, from the following verses:
- Matthew 8:16-17 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.”
The apostle Matthew clearly explains that Isaiah's prophecy about what Jesus was going to do, also spoke about healing the diseases of the physical body, not just those of the soul. So, if Jesus bore physical sicknesses and infirmities in His body on the cross, we no longer have to bear them.
In 1 Timothy 5:23, the apostle Paul told Timothy to take better care of his health and drink a little wine as a remedy. He was probably sensitive to the germs in the drinking water of the area where he lived, and a small amount of wine did him good until he was able to receive the miracle of healing. It is up to us to take care of ourselves and pay attention to what is good for us or not. We can be healthier if we are balanced, pay attention to what we eat, get enough sleep, exercise, live pleasing to the Lord in all aspects of life, and resist the symptoms of sickness when it tries to set in.
- 1 Timothy 5:23 No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities.
God wants us to be healthy and sometimes He uses doctors or medicine for this. When we do not have a clear word from the Lord, when we do not have firm faith in our hearts that we will receive the miracle of healing, doctors can be the solution to the healing we need. We can be healed by the methods of modern science, by the miracle of the intervention of the Holy Spirit, or by a combination of the two. In other words, if you are taking a treatment prescribed by a doctor, do not stop the treatment until you know for sure that God has healed you, has spoken clearly in your spirit, or you have felt the power of the Holy Spirit as a heat or electric current in the affected area, you have felt that something has left your body or have experienced other manifestations of God's intervention........
